Tanzania Sports Leadership Challenge
Make a real difference in local communities while exploring Tanzania’s culture, landscapes, and people.
- Tanzania
- Health & Wellness
Challenge Snapshot
- Explore the breathtaking wildlife & culture of Tanzania
- Help run sports camps & workshops
- Develop leadership & teamwork skills in young children
Overview
Tanzania is known for its sweeping savannahs, iconic wildlife and the towering peak of Mount Kilimanjaro, offering a truly unique setting for your Global Citizenship journey. However, many schools in the Usa River area face barriers such as damaged infrastructure and limited resources. Based in the rural outskirts of Arusha, surrounded by small villages and views of Mount Meru, you’ll support local schools and communities by running engaging sports camps, after-school clubs and sport workshops. Through these activities, you’ll help young learners discover their talents, promote healthy habits and teamwork, and build the confidence they need to stay active and thrive in the future.
Combining purposeful community involvement with cultural immersion and real-world experience, this programme helps you create meaningful relationships, build confidence, and contribute to long-term positive change.
- Focused on UN Sustainability Goals

Are flights included?
Flights aren’t included in the programme cost because many participants choose to extend their travels before or after the programme, so booking flights independently gives you the flexibility to arrange your own travel plans. It also works out more cost efficient if you book them. Don’t worry though, we’re here for support if you need us.
Do I need any previous experience or qualifications?
You don’t need any previous experience or qualifications to join most of our programmes. We provide comprehensive preparation and support before departure, as well as a detailed Programme Orientation on arrival in-country, ensuring participants feel confident and ready to contribute to the programme.
Can I raise money to fund my trip?
Absolutely! This is something we encourage you to do, and we’ll help you set up an official fundraising page so you can share it with your network to collect donations.
What is the accommodation like?
You’ll either be staying at our hub, or a local partner guesthouse in dorm-style accommodation, sharing your room with up to three other participants. There are western showers and toilets, as well as communal spaces for relaxing. While you will be provided with home comforts, they will be different to your usual standards and all part of the challenge!
