Panama: Social Impact in the Community

Challenge Snapshot

Panama is a nation of stark contrasts, where modern skyscrapers and wealth stand alongside disadvantaged, low-income communities. Disparities between the rich and poor are evident, with limited access to quality education services being one of the main barriers to development. Many rural and low-income areas face challenges such as underfunded schools, a shortage of qualified teachers, and inadequate infrastructure. We believe that the best way to achieve positive change is by providing the next generation with access to quality education.
Design and facilitate education workshops in conversational English, STEAM education and creative arts to inspire local learners in their education and foster essential skills such as teamwork, problem-solving and critical thinking!
Design and facilitate life skills sessions with the wider community, with the aim to build aspirations and create pathways to better opportunities, contributing to long-term success!
Raise environmental awareness amongst the local community through tree-planting activities and community clean-ups!

“My experience with the Global Citizenship Programme in Panama has been incredible. Through running workshops in two schools in rural Panama I’ve had the opportunity to experience a different culture, learn to communicate across a language barrier, improved in confidence and developed my leadership skills. What has stood out most for me has been the amazing team I’ve worked alongside. I came into the trip not knowing the rest of the group very well, but through our teamwork and shared experience we very quickly became close, it was a difficult goodbye!”
