- Education & Community
Challenge Snapshot
- Watch the sun rise over the birthplace of the Nile.
- Weekends are for safaris, markets, and adventure.
- Deliver workshops that boost literacy and open doors for local children.
Overview
Uganda is known for its incredible wildlife, lush landscapes, and warm hospitality, but beyond the famous mountain gorillas and sweeping savannahs lies a country rich in culture and tradition. In the bustling city of Jinja, surrounded by the flowing waters of the Nile, the Uganda Social Impact Challenge begins.
As part of a team, you’ll design and deliver interactive workshops in local schools, covering topics such as conversational English, STEM, creative arts, and environmental awareness, helping build children’s confidence and boost their access to education. Beyond the project, explore vibrant markets, take on the white waters of the Nile, or head out on safari across Uganda’s national parks. Every day brings a new perspective, lasting friendships, and the chance to be part of something that makes a real difference

Are flights included?
Flights aren’t included in the programme cost because many participants choose to extend their travels before or after the programme, so booking flights independently gives you the flexibility to arrange your own travel plans. It also works out more cost efficient if you book them. Don’t worry though, we’re here for support if you need us.
Do I need any previous experience or qualifications?
You don’t need any previous experience or qualifications to join most of our programmes. We provide comprehensive preparation and support before departure, as well as a detailed Programme Orientation on arrival in-country, ensuring participants feel confident and ready to contribute to the programme.
Can I raise money to fund my trip?
Absolutely! This is something we encourage you to do, and we’ll help you set up an official fundraising page so you can share it with your network to collect donations.
What is the accommodation like?
You’ll either be staying at our hub, or a local partner guesthouse in dorm-style accommodation, sharing your room with up to three other participants. There are western showers and toilets, as well as communal spaces for relaxing. While you will be provided with home comforts, they will be different to your usual standards and all part of the challenge!
