Are flights included?

Flights aren’t included in the programme cost because many participants choose to extend their travels before or after the programme, so booking flights independently gives you the flexibility to arrange your own travel plans. It also works out more cost efficient if you book them. Don’t worry though, we’re here for support if you need us.

You don’t need any previous experience or qualifications to join most of our programmes. We provide comprehensive preparation and support before departure, as well as a detailed Programme Orientation on arrival in-country, ensuring participants feel confident and ready to contribute to the programme.

Absolutely! This is something we encourage you to do, and we’ll help you set up an official fundraising page so you can share it with your network to collect donations.

You’ll either be staying at our hub, or a local partner guesthouse in dorm-style accommodation, sharing your room with up to three other participants. There are western showers and toilets, as well as communal spaces for relaxing. While you will be provided with home comforts, they will be different to your usual standards and all part of the challenge!

Friendships that don't end at the airport, a story or two nobody else at home will have, and a different view for what you thought the world looked like.

Peru is known for its ancient Incan ruins, vibrant textiles, and world-famous cuisine, but beyond Machu Picchu and bustling markets lies a quieter, more profound side of the country. In the breathtaking Sacred Valley, surrounded by towering mountains and terraced fields, the Peru Sports Leadership Challenge begins. Working closely with local schools and educators, you’ll design and deliver hands-on sports workshops covering sports education, health promotion, and teamwork, helping address the barriers that geographic isolation and limited resources place on rural communities. Beyond the project, wander through bustling markets, explore Indigenous Quechua culture, and spend a weekend taking in Cusco, Machu Picchu, or Rainbow Mountain. Each day is a chance to make a lasting impact while gaining insight into the rich heritage and resilience of Andean life.

“I have just come home from Tanzania after spending two weeks there with Challenges Abroad. I have had the most amazing experience volunteering in a primary school and have made memories that will stay with me for a life time. There is a good balance between volunteering and free time so that you have a chance to enjoy the culture. I couldn’t recommend enough if you get the chance to participate in a Challenges Abroad programme.”
