Laos Social Impact Challenge
Make a real difference in local communities while exploring Laos’ culture, landscapes, and people.
- Laos
- Health & Wellbeing
Challenge Snapshot
- Wake to alms-giving ceremonies in a UNESCO World Heritage town.
- Swim beneath the turquoise waterfalls of Kuang Si.
- Design workshops that open doors for local schoolchildren.
Overview
There’s a moment just after sunrise in Luang Prabang when the mist still clings to the Mekong and the town’s golden temple spires catch the first light, a quiet reminder that some places really do live up to the postcard. You’ll work alongside local schools and educators to deliver engaging workshops while experiencing the culture, traditions, and hospitality that make Laos unforgettable.
As part of a team of Global Citizens, you’ll design and deliver interactive workshops in local schools, covering topics such as conversational English, STEM, creative arts, and environmental awareness. Beyond the project, explore golden temples, vibrant night markets, and breathtaking waterfalls, returning home with new skills, lifelong friendships, and a fresh perspective on the world.

Are flights included?
Flights aren’t included in the programme cost because many participants choose to extend their travels before or after the programme, so booking flights independently gives you the flexibility to arrange your own travel plans. It also works out more cost efficient if you book them. Don’t worry though, we’re here for support if you need us.
Do I need any previous experience or qualifications?
You don’t need any previous experience or qualifications to join most of our programmes. We provide comprehensive preparation and support before departure, as well as a detailed Programme Orientation on arrival in-country, ensuring participants feel confident and ready to contribute to the programme.
Can I raise money to fund my trip?
Absolutely! This is something we encourage you to do, and we’ll help you set up an official fundraising page so you can share it with your network to collect donations.
What is the accommodation like?
You’ll either be staying at our hub, or a local partner guesthouse in dorm-style accommodation, sharing your room with up to three other participants. There are western showers and toilets, as well as communal spaces for relaxing. While you will be provided with home comforts, they will be different to your usual standards and all part of the challenge!
