See a different side of Peru through this unique challenge! You will take part in a 5-day trek up Machu Picchu, one of Peru’s most visited tourist destinations. The trek follows the Salkantay route, which offers a spectacular alternative to the oversubscribed Inca Trail. With support from horses and a camp crew, you will be taken off the beaten track and away from the crowds as you hike through breath-taking mountain passes and remote villages. The trek reaches an altitude of 4,600m so you will need to be physically fit to take on this challenge.
You will also spend a week in our partner schools providing education to the youth of Peru as well as the wider community, helping to improve conversational English. We see this as the way to not only educate the next generation but through the children and by engaging their families, drive change into the local communities.
By implementing workshops on a range of topics, we would like to start the process of change in habits which will increase our overall impact in the local community. This placement will also give you the opportunity to develop your own skills in a meaningful and impactful way whilst also developing the community’s knowledge. The positive effects of this exceptional programme will be immediately evident during your stay in Peru.
I had an absolutely amazing time on my trip to Peru. Working with the children was so rewarding, the Salkantay Trek to Machu Picchu was the experience of a lifetime, the Amazon extension trip was an incredible ending to the entire adventure.Volunteer - Paige - Peru
I had an amazing time getting involved in the school, I helped out as well as learning about this country and it's people's history. I would love to go back again in the future and spend more time learning and exploring Peru.Volunteer - Peru
