Experience the beautiful national parks in Finland this Summer on our brand new Nordic Wilderness Challenge in Finland! This 50km challenge will allow you to test your endurance whilst experiencing true nordic Wilderness. You will function as your own transport, and as a group will make your own fire and prepare your own meals. This is a great opportunity if you are someone who is wanting to throw yourself into an adventure whilst learning about nature, nordic tales and work on survival skills together with skilled and trained guides.
Your journey will begin in Oravi, an idyllic village which is located in between the National Parks Linnansaari and Kolovesi. The following day you will have a kayak training session before starting your kayaking journey in the afternoon. Throughout the challenge, you will have a chance to explore the area including the Kolovesi National Park, known as 'paddlers paradise'. You may also spot the curious Saimaa ringed seal. During the evenings, after you have set up camp, you can focus on resting or join in on some guided activities focusing on enhancing your wilderness skills. At the end of your journey there will be a BBQ to celebrate and a chance to pick up some souvenirs before travelling back to Helsinki to start your journey home.
To deal with the uncertainty that comes with COVID-19, we have introduced the following guarantees so you can confidently book your volunteer programme today.
Although we are confident that programmes will go ahead as planned, if your programme is affected by Covid-19 travel restrictions, your programme will be postponed to the following year, and your fundraising deadlines will be extended.
We are continuously monitoring the advice of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) and speaking with our teams on the ground to ensure we are fully aware of all on-going situations. If your destination is affected by coronavirus travel restrictions, you will be able to move your programme to one of our other destinations
Our volunteer's health and safety whilst overseas is our biggest priority. We are putting in place additional measures to enhance health and safety practices when travel resumes. Some of these measures include increased cleaning at our accommodation, reducing the number of volunteers sharing bathroom facilities, mandatory hand-washing before meals and an in-depth review of all in-country risk management processes.
Volunteering in Thailand has been an incredible experience that’s helped me grow so much. Working at the Elephant Nature Park was physically challenging, but it was such a fun and welcoming environment. I feel really inspired knowing that what we’ve done has contributed to a much wider positive impact.Volunteer - Ellie - Thailand
