India: Social Impact in the Community (2 Weeks)

Become a Global Citizen in India as you immerse yourself in the local culture of Dharamshala, inspiring children to love learning and creativity, and to speak English so they can get better jobs and prosper. Then, how about a tour of the best sights India has to offer!

Challenge Snapshot

You’ll spend two weeks in Palampur, helping children to improve their English and literacy skills, as well as STEM, creative arts and fun sports. And you’ll be contributing far beyond those two weeks, because being able to speak English is a game-changer for children here – it means unlike 45% of the country’s poor and illiterate, they can get good jobs and enjoy a bright future.

Exciting young minds and hearts

Challenge Overview

You’ll be working on a range of projects that help improve education quality at our partner schools in Palampur. These could include running life skills workshops that build children’s confidence and encourage transferable skills like problem solving, conflict resolution and teamwork. You’ll be asked to deliver conversational English lessons that will increase the children’s opportunities for further education and well-paying jobs later in life. You’ll be running STEM workshops that encourage experimentation and innovation. You’ll also get the opportunity to work on a small-scale renovation project, such as painting a mural, to improve learning environments and promote school attendance.
