Royal Holloway Peru: Social Impact

Education is at the heart of the work we do with our communities. We believe that the best way to achieve positive change is by providing the next generation with access to quality education. On the Peru: Social Impact programme, you will be based in the Scared Valley. By participating on this programme, you’ll get to contribute to a range of exciting education projects including:

• Delivering Conversational English sessions to improve children’s competency and confidence speaking English
  
  
• STEM and life skills workshops that allow children to learn hands-on, develop their critical thinking skills and become more engaged in their education.
  
  
• Infrastructure projects at local schools to improve facilities and create a safer and more conducive learning environment for children.

PROGRAMME STRUCTURE

When you arrive in Peru you’ll be met by our team at the airport. Over the next few days you’ll have a thorough induction and orientation where you’ll learn about Peruvian customs and culture, get your bearings around town, meet community partners and gain a better understanding of the context of the projects you’re working on.

Over four weeks, you’ll work in the community Monday - Friday with your weekend free to travel and explore. Your day will usually be structured with a morning session (approx. 3 hours) after breakfast and then a session of the same length after lunch. Your afternoons and evenings will be free for you to relax or do any required planning for the next day. 

On the last day, you’ll either be transported back to the airport to begin your journey home.
