We are passionate about developing the next generation of change makers. On our Peru: Climate Action programme, you will inspire local students to become change makers and develop their climate awareness and relationship with nature. On this programme, you will contribute to a range of projects including:
Delivering workshops on climate change, waste management and the 5 R's.
Run practical sessions
Contribute to developing new recycling initiatives in partner schools
When you arrive in Peru you’ll be met by our team at the airport. Over the next few days you’ll have a thorough induction and orientation where you’ll learn about Peruvian customs and culture, get your bearings around town, meet community partners and gain a better understanding of the context of the projects you’re working on.
Over four weeks weeks, you’ll work in the community Monday - Friday with your weekend free to travel and explore. Your day will usually be structured with a morning session (approx. 3 hours) after breakfast and then a session of the same length after lunch. Your afternoons and evenings will be free for you to relax or do any required planning for the next day.
On the last day, you’ll either be transported back to the airport to begin your journey home.
You may be eligible to receive funding for this programme from your University. We recommend contacting your University Go Global/International Office to find out more, or book an appointment with one of our travel experts who will be more than happy to discuss funding options with you.
To deal with the uncertainty that comes with COVID-19, we have introduced several guarantees so you can confidently book in your 2022 volunteer programme today. View more information here.
Overall, I had a wonderful experience in Peru with Challenges abroad. Thanks Challenges Abroad for giving me the opportunity to help a community, learn about a different culture. The project was very well organised. Our team and challenge leader was amazing, and I've learnt so much from this experience.Volunteer - Isabella - Peru
I had an absolutely amazing time on my trip to Peru. Working with the children was so rewarding, the Salkantay Trek to Machu Picchu was the experience of a lifetime, the Amazon extension trip was an incredible ending to the entire adventure.Volunteer - Paige - Peru
You’ll learn so much, especially regarding to your social skills, which you learn both from teaching the kids and working with your mates. It’s also wonderful how you could use your own knowledge and capabilities to help a community in need.Volunteer - Long Hoang - Peru
